Yorkshire Terriers AKC Breed Standard

Yorkshire terrier breed standard was last amended in 1966. Yorkshire Terrier head is small and rather flat on top, the skull not too prominent or round. Yorkshire Terriers eyes are medium in size, dark in colour and sparkling with a sharp, intelligent expression.

A Yorshire Terrier body is well proportioned and very compact. Yorkshire Terriers tail docked to a medium length and carried slightly higher than the level of the back. A Yorshire Terrier must not exceed 7 pounds.

Yorkshire terrier breeders usuallly have a long waiting list of people interested in yorkshire terrier puppies. Good yorkshire terrier breeders will be looking for someone who has the time and interest to deal with a yorkshire terrier and who exhibits a responsible attitude toward taking on yorkshire terrier breed.
